Mother Earth & Nature

Our home 'Mother Earth' is an amazingly beautiful, colourful world.

'Mother Nature' never seizes to amaze her children.

She is constantly showering us with bounty of colour,

fragrance, purity and unmatchable 'Beauty'!

Mother Earth

provides the plants, animals, birds, and fish who give their lives

to feed and clothe human beings,

while the trees, plants, and soil provide us with shelter, warmth,

and a way to grow some of our foods.

The insects ensure that our plants are pollinated and assist with their growth.

About Mother Earth

Mother Nature (sometimes known as Mother Earth or the Earth Mother) is a personification of nature that focuses on the life-giving and nurturing aspects of nature by embodying it, in the form of a mother.

We often use the metaphor 'mother earth' to describe Earth as the Earth is the place where we live and survive. The earth provides for the necessities of life such as air, food, water, materials etc just like a mother takes care of the needs of her children. Without the Earth, it would be impossible for organisms to live.

Mother Earth symbolises femininity, nurture, growth, new life and groundedness. She's a symbol of gentle power and wisdom, and also a reminder of our humanity; we all share the same earth and have a responsibility to care for our planet and our home.

Problems of Mother Earth

Climate change, man-made changes to nature as well as crimes that disrupt biodiversity, such as deforestation, land-use change, intensified agriculture and livestock production or the growing illegal wildlife trade, can accelerate the speed of destruction of the planet. - United Nations

Humans impact the physical environment in many ways: overpopulation, pollution, burning fossil fuels, and deforestation. Changes like these have triggered climate change, soil erosion, poor air quality, and undrinkable water.- National Geographic Society

Why should we protect Mother Earth?

Our planet – the only home we have – is at breaking point. Two thirds of our earth's oceans and three quarters of its land have been damaged by humans. One million species could vanish by 2050 – accelerating the global extinction rate potentially hundreds of times faster than over the last 10 million years.

-United Nations Development Programme

Mother Earth is the third planet from the Sun and is home to more than seven billion people. The Earth is a vital resource for life. It provides us with everything we want, but also everything we need to survive.  We depend on it to grow plants, trees, and food. We need its water for hydration, air and the oxygen we breath, raw material, literally everything we need comes from this ONE PLANET. When we destroy the planet, we start destroying many things like the environment, our health and other things that help us survive.

How to restore our Mother Earth?

Few ways we can help save the environment...

  • Revive the ecosystems that sustain us.

  • Make some noise about climate change.

  • Conquer the global mountain of plastic.

  • Banish dirty air from the skies.

  • Get tree planting right. - UNEP

  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle.

  • Volunteer. Volunteer for clean-ups in your community.

  • Educate. When you further your own education, you can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources.

  • Conserve water. The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean.

  • Choose sustainable.

  • Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag.

  • Use long-lasting light bulbs.

  • Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.

  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space.

  • Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!

  • Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.
